Aquatics Classes

Stroke Technique
This class concentrates on improving your four competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, rather than on conditioning. Attention is also focused on dives, turns and other swimming fundamentals such as side stroke, treading water, etc. Emphasis is placed on good technique, having fun and becoming a stronger swimmer.

Session I: (Tuesdays and Thursdays) from April 24 to May 17, 2012. Fee: $85.00.
Intermediate Level: from 4:30 - 5:00 pm. For ages 6 - 8
Mastery of Strokes: from 5:00 - 5:45 pm. For ages 9 and older


Organized Group Instruction

Do you have a Boy or Girl Scout Troop that needs an aquatic badge completed? We have an indoor facility available to accommodate all of your needs year-round. Fee: $30.00 per half hour for instructor, plus $8.00 guest fee for any non-member participants.


Lap Swimming
ADULT ONLY lap swim is available Monday-Sunday from 5:30 am-8:00 am.
Reminder: This is an unguarded time, swim at your own risk. There is a designated lane in the pool for lap swimmers use only during all pool hours, except Swim Team and summer lessons.


Stroke Analysis
Our coaches can analyze your stroke and offer input on improving your swimming technique. This will help increase your power, speed and endurance in the water. This session is especially beneficial to triathletes, competitive swimmers and individuals who want to cross-train.


2012 Lifeguard Class
January 29th: 12:00-8:00pm
February 5th: 12:00-8:00pm
February 12th: 12:00-8:00pm
February 19th: 12:00-8:00pm

Prerequisites
1. 15 years old on the last regularly scheduled day of class (Feb. 20th).
2. Pass a swimming pretest: Swim 300 yards continuously, using these strokes in the following order: 100 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing, propellant kick; 100 yards of breaststroke using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence; 100 yards of either front crawl using rhythmic breathing or breaststroke. These 100 yards may be a mixture of front crawl and breaststroke.
3. Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a depth of 7 - 10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object without goggles, return to the surface, and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object within 1 minute 40 seconds.

Inability to successfully complete these skills on the first day of class will prevent you from continuing in the class and NO refunds will be issued.

ATTENDANCE AT ALL CLASS SESSIONS IS MANDATORY TO RECEIVE CERTIFICATION. Students are encouraged to bring snacks with them. There will be an hour break at which time students may visit local restaurants if they desire. Students should come to class prepared to swim everyday. All pool work is done without goggles; candidates should be comfortable opening their eyes underwater. Towels and locker room facilities are provided.
